Group Sustainability Director
Group Sustainability Director
Location: Open / Group-wide
Reporting to: CEO
Experience: 12–15+ years
About the Role
Tagaddod is looking for a Group Sustainability Director to lead sustainability, certification, regulatory compliance and traceability across all our markets.
Reporting directly to the CEO, you will serve as the group's sustainability executive and the single point of accountability for sustainability across Tagaddod. You will ensure sustainability requirements are embedded throughout our operations and supply chain, from feedstock sourcing and collection points to storage, logistics, processing and international exports.
This is a high-impact executive role at the intersection of sustainability, technology, operations and commercial growth. Beyond protecting certification integrity and market access, you will help unlock new commercial opportunities across sustainable feedstocks, renewable fuels and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).
The role requires a combination of deep technical sustainability expertise, operational execution across complex supply chains, and the ability to translate certification and regulatory requirements into commercial value.
The position has a group-wide mandate and an open location, with regular international travel across Tagaddod's markets.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sustainability Leadership & Governance
Define and execute the group's sustainability strategy, policies, standards and control framework across all markets and business units.
Serve as the group's primary authority and reference point for sustainability-related decisions, risks, requirements and opportunities.
Lead the sustainability function, including existing sustainability and certification staff, establishing clear ownership across certification and compliance, traceability, GHG and carbon intensity, ESG reporting, and external communications.
Define accountability across countries and functions, including local sustainability focal points, reporting responsibilities and escalation routes.
Own the sustainability budget, team structure, recruitment, resource allocation and appointment of external advisers.
Monitor regulatory and certification developments, translating their implications for feedstock eligibility, pricing and market access into operational requirements and commercial opportunities.
Report to the CEO and, as required, the Board on sustainability performance, compliance status, material risks, strategic priorities and growth opportunities.
2. Certification Integrity & Operational Compliance
Ensure that Tagaddod's operations, sites, suppliers, collection points and supply chain partners comply in practice with applicable certification schemes and regulated-market requirements.
Own the group's sustainability certifications, including audit readiness, surveillance audits, renewals, corrective actions, and the integrity of chain-of-custody and mass-balance systems.
Establish and oversee regular field verification, including unannounced checks of suppliers, collection points and operational sites.
Own supplier and point-of-origin due diligence, including onboarding standards, origin verification, risk assessment, audit requirements and supplier suspension or blocking decisions.
Embed sustainability requirements into SOPs, training and operational controls across sourcing, procurement, operations, logistics and trading.
Establish proactive monitoring, early-warning mechanisms and a sustainability risk register to identify compliance gaps, suspicious activity and certification risks before they escalate.
Lead the resolution of non-conformities through root-cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions.
Manage relationships with certification bodies, auditors, regulators and external advisers to protect certification continuity and market access.
3. Traceability Technology & Supply Chain Integration
Own the group's traceability strategy and operating model, ensuring end-to-end visibility from point of origin through collection, storage, transportation, processing and final delivery.
Lead the development and implementation of digital traceability capabilities in partnership with Technology, Commercial and Operations teams across all markets.
Define system requirements, data standards, verification controls and documentation workflows covering supplier registration, collection data, chain of custody, mass balance and sustainability declarations.
Ensure traceability systems generate accurate, consistent and auditable evidence that meets certification, regulatory and buyer requirements.
Ensure relevant data infrastructure supports applicable regulatory platforms, including the EU Union Database where required.
Use traceability data and analytics to identify anomalies, volume discrepancies, questionable origins and potential compliance breaches.
Drive system adoption, data quality and continuous improvement across operational teams and supply chain partners.
4. Buyer Engagement, Market Positioning & Commercial Development
Own sustainability engagement with buyers, offtakers and strategic commercial partners, serving as Tagaddod's senior sustainability representative.
Oversee sustainability certificates, declarations, Proofs of Sustainability, buyer audits, due diligence requests, questionnaires and the resolution of sustainability-related concerns.
Ensure all sustainability claims, declarations and reported carbon-intensity values are accurate, consistent and supported by verifiable evidence.
Position Tagaddod as a recognised and trusted supplier of sustainable waste-based feedstocks in international markets.
Own external sustainability communications, relevant sustainability ratings and assessments, including EcoVadis and CDP, and representation in industry forums.
Work with Commercial and Corporate Development to develop opportunities arising from sustainability capabilities, including premium markets, strategic partnerships, new certifications and SAF supply chains.
Translate buyer requirements and evolving market expectations into practical controls that strengthen customer confidence and support commercial growth.
5. Sustainable Pathways for New Feedstocks, Products & Markets
Own the sustainability assessment and approval process for every new feedstock, product and market before commercial trading or production begins.
Define the required sustainability pathway, including feedstock eligibility, certification route, origin verification, traceability, documentation, GHG profile and target-market requirements.
Assess the feasibility, risks, compliance obligations and commercial implications of entering new feedstock and product categories.
Identify opportunities to access new certification schemes, regulated markets, premium channels and renewable fuel value chains, including SAF and CORSIA-eligible supply.
Develop business cases with Commercial and Corporate Development, translating sustainability capabilities into measurable commercial opportunities.
Support sustainability due diligence for strategic partnerships, acquisitions and entry into new countries.
Ensure no new feedstock or product is launched without the required sustainability assessment and approval.
6. GHG, Carbon Intensity & ESG Reporting
Own GHG emissions and carbon-intensity calculations supporting sustainability declarations, product claims and buyer requirements.
Ensure calculations follow applicable methodologies, assumptions and documentation requirements, including RED, CORSIA and GREET/LCFS where relevant.
Establish consistent processes for collecting, validating, maintaining and reporting sustainability and emissions data across the group.
Lead group-wide ESG and sustainability reporting, ensuring data quality, consistency and appropriate internal controls.
Coordinate responses to ESG and sustainability requests from investors, lenders, customers and strategic partners.
Identify opportunities to improve feedstock and product carbon intensity through better sourcing, traceability, operational practices and supply chain decisions.
